A good strong all round team display today that on any other day would have been deserving of a win. Charlotte Meredith threw the gauntlet down to Ashton at the start having full confidence in the team defence by giving Ashton the 1st attack.
Ashton did break through to score, however that set the tone for a good defensive display from both teams. No team clearly dominated throughout the match with the scoreline tight for the 40 minutes.
Great tries and assists from Finn Hammill, Charlie " 2 breakfasts" Mather, Joe Harding, Connor Mahoney , Robbie Tickle, Mitchell Ireland and debutant Henry Briscoe who thoroughly deserved his star player award for a game where he looked more than at home.
Strong runs throughout the team today with determined carries and support runs from all players. This continues even after some strong tackles which included an arm injury to Ben Haughton which he managed to shrug off and soldier on.
Large leaps forward in the development of Kerim Saglam and Alex Welsby saw them make some well earned metres forward for the team. George Slann showed that he again favours the transition to summer rugby, carrying on where he left off last week breaking the defence on more than one occasion.
An insider informed me that Charlie "2 breakfasts" Mather only just remembered breakfast number 2 today! A crucial effort to fit it in as although he scored, it was his superb tackling that earned him the games tackle champion award and gave him the biggest contribution to todays effort.
Lucas McDonald also debuted today and grew in to the game which provided a display to be proud of. Again he certainly looked at home and certainly contributed to the team performance.
In summary a great day enjoyed by all with many positives to take forward in to training.
