Today saw the debut for two great new players, Kian McCaron and Alfie Jones, and what a debut they had!!
Right from the off both boys were ready to attack, with several setups and assists. Despite feeling off colour Kian soldiered on and kept up with some great supporting play to ensure Clock Face didn't get through easily. Unfortunately they did get through and opened the heart of the defence right up taking the lead from early on.
Some excellent defence and coordination of players by Henry Briscoe kept us in the game earning him todays Tackle Champion award. Charlotte Meredith and Alex Dowd ran the centre of the pitch with some strong holding play and great offloads giving both Luke Taylor and Oliver Hunt to gain essential meters for the team.
Each and every player today worked hard, ran hard and hit hard, but the stand out star player just had to be Alfie Jones with his confidence and a try on his debut.
Amazing tries scored by Charlie Mather, Charlie Smithson Luke Taylor Joe Harding , Alex Dowd, Alfie Jones, and and Henry Briscoe kept us well within reach of a win but the Clockface defence was top notch. That coupled with some great full pitch runs Usain Bolt would be proud of gave them the edge leaving Crosfields pipped at the posts.
Despite the loss a fab day was had by all with sunshine and smiles, theres simply no better way to spend Sunday mornings.!
