A fantastic crowd are treated to an end to end display of u8s rugby which was filled with fantastic skills from both sides

Crosfields travelled to local Rivals Burtonwood Bulldogs expecting a tough encounter looking at the previous results of both sides and were not disappointed, for an under 8 game the standard of rugby played from both sides was very high.

The Young Soap went into the game missing 5 players meaning for the first time they would play with only a single sub many of the kids having to play for double the amount of game time they are used to and whilst fatigued towards the end stood up admirably and didn't take a backwards step.

The game was pretty much try for try with Burtonwood matching the young soaps play often moving the ball through numerous pairs of hands and finding space in the soaps defence, something we have not seen many sides do, to credit the soap youngsters however they are also now beginning to look up and play what they see and on a number of occasions creating and executing a 2 v 1 on the edge and scoring from it.

Games at this standard for any side will only aid the development of these young players win, lose or as in this case Draw.

Spencer Buller was on absolute fire Today, was everywhere in defence pulling off a number of try-saving tackles and bagging himself a hat-trick together with the Man of the Match award, Josh Ackerley although injured for a time tackling the biggest under 8 you will ever see bagged 5 tries and walked away with top tackler whilst Lewis Spencer bagged 2 tries and the coaches award for a great effort in both attack and defense. Regan Parkman was back to top form scoring a brace of tries one of which showed how much better than his Dad he already is racing down the touchline after busting 2 defenders and stepping back inside the cover tackle to touch down and gain the Away team player of the match from the Bulldogs.

Isaac Worthington also grabbed himself a brace of trys with 2 classy mazy runs bamboozling the Burtonwood defence. Robbie Tickle worked his socks off out wide and made more than one covering tackles on the edge to see a Bulldog in touch before they could touch down, Daniel Beaumont fell victim to a dubious refereeing decision when judged to have put the ball down touch in goal when in fact it was in before it was squeezed out and continues to lead us around the park from the hooking role, we can't wait until he can actually run from DH as his awareness is really coming on. Charlie Rooney continues to impress running strong, once he has had a bit more game time he will start to fly.

Thanks to stand in photgrapher Buller for the piccies whilst Martin is sunning himself.
