Strange morning, strange performance with a good result.

Portico Vine away at Clincky Wood (don't know what it's called in Gougheys Sat Nav).
Full squad except for Robby Tickle who is on a beach somewhere.

After a long drive the boys disembarked at the lovely clinky wood, and soon realised the heat was going to be a big factor in today's meeting.

The sun doesn't often shine on St Helens but today it was baking.

Not that the Soap couldn't handle it, but under their shiny head guards the Cobras were soon breaking into a sweat. Sam Perry plucked the Vine early doors and scored two scorchers in the first 3 minutes! Isaac showed the heat wasn't bothering him, as seen by his delicious Ibiza suntan and scored a beauty cut back try on the first drive from a new set.

Lewis Spencer continued his fine form diving over for his first, soon followed by Finn Hammill, Nathan Simpson continued squeezing the juice from the Vine with a lovely score, then Alistair Robson closed the set out making it 7-0.

Isaac Worthington took a lovely ball from the first receiver to score his second at the start of the set. Then Regan Parkman bagged one after some fine work on the left wing.
The boys were feeling the heat, and Q4 saw a few tempers raised and a few niggles. But soap showed a different level, another 4 tries, and only one being let in. Josh Ackerley bookended the set with, one being his trademark bash from the opening drive and the other a great run where he was looking for support bit managed to shrug the defenders off and squeeze the ball down! Finn Hammill scored another excellent try catching an A-ball then hit stepping to the line and Lewis Spencer with an amazing in and out down the line.

Overall today was more about the concentration levels shown, and the ability to deal with adverse weather than the opposition.

The boys can play excellent rugby but today with 13 players and super sunshine it could be easy to let things slip. They didn't, and it was good to see new scorers and a new top tackler showing the boys are sharing the work more.

On a final note, I am disappointed the boys thought it was ok to chase the official stato around the field then drench him. I know which of the little ratbags were involved and will seek revenge very coldly.
