Another game and another top draw defensive performance taking on the worlds biggest 8 year old and his mates.

As the final regular season match and rematch against one our of better local opponents this was always going to be a good tussle. The game was a little late kicking off, and only 8 burpdogs managed to make it past biological control checkpoint M62, it was almost a direct opposite of our last game when we drew with no subs earlier in the year at the village of the damned. However the low numbers didn't stop the burpdogs trying right until the end and other than Q1 this was a really close balanced game.
All three tries in Q1 were crackers with the Josh's book ending Finns amazing run to the line beating 3 men for speed.
Q2 saw Chazza bring one in and JoshA smash over off the first drive.
The burpdogs tied that Q and Q3 was 1 to them, setting us up for the final Q at 5-3.
The two scores in Q 4 though were awesome, JY rolling out of tackles on first drive and zipping 20m to the line, then Reg took an amazeballs offload from Chazza and swan dived over the line! Bet Russ never scored off a dive like that!
Only 86 one on one tackles today as most of the tackles were 3 men in, excellent defence meant Burpsdogs only scored 3 tries in 12 ish minutes so nearly 30 mins with no score against! Top Bananas. Not trying to single anybody out but it's clear the way the speed the boys play is putting immense pressure on opponents, and some of the speed our sets go at is unreal. I know I'm a bit biased but Isaac is constantly shouting for the play the ball to speed up and Joe and Josh are attacking the line at first receiver to set up great speed of play. Awesome stuff.
And on that note I'd also like to share a few thoughts, this season has seen some blowouts, and some real tough games. But the boys have done brilliant, some have learnt to play new moves, some have gone from being timid to putting in a shift every week. Some are learning to play proper rugby, some are still developing their understanding. Some have started to sacrifice for the team, some are lifting the team with their effort. But through it all it's becoming clear they understand teamwork and what it means to rely on each other. As parents we all want Jnr to have the ball every set and do 50 tackles a match, but it doesn't matter who puts it down, and nobody hides in D, or hasn't done this year anyway. So as long as they come off laughing I'm happy.
