Blackbrook 19 - 7 Crosfields Vipers

After last weeks victory over Rylands Tiger Sharks the Vipers were brought back down to earth with a bump against a very impressive Blackbrook.

With the sun shining brightly the Vipers made a slow start to the game on a sound surface in St Helens. After losing the toss Brook started the game with back to back tries before Jaden Penny grabbed the first of his Hat-Trick in response for the Soap.

The Vipers were held out by great defence from Blackbrook, despite barnstorming direct runs from Alex Dowd and Jacob Allcock in the first period and soon found themselves 5 - 1 down with slick play from the opposition. Jaden Penny and Henry Briscoe ran in a try each before Brook added a 6th to end the quarter.

The Introduction of Mitch Ireland and Luke Taylor added pace to the soap attack but the well drilled opposition ran in 5 tries to 1 in the second quarter with Joe Harding grabbing a late try in return.

The 3rd quarter was a closely contested affair with Jacob Allcock crashing over from close range after great work by Tyler Mills and the rampaging Ben Haughton. Jaden Penny swiftly crossed again to complete his hat trick thanks to the hard working Harvey Holt but three brook tries extended the lead for the opponents.

The Vipers were growing in confirdence but ran out of steam in the fourh quarter. However they did score their best try of the game, slick hands from both Taylor and Ireland enablde Joe Harding to shrug off four would be tackler to crash over.

The game was a harsh lesson for the boys but they never gave up and stuck at it, full credit goes to the Blackbrook team, parents and coaches who encouraged and applauded every single player from both sides during and after the game.
