Taylor tries not enough for soap youngsters.

In the last home game before the summer break the Vipers welcomed Wigan St Cuthberts to Warrington.

In between downpours and glimpses of sun the home side made a promising start with Luke Taylor slicing through the opposition defence to go the length of the field and set him on his way to a MOM performance. It was throughly deserved as he would later claim a second try and back it up with some great last ditch one on one tackles.

Cuthberts shook off the slow start to gain the upper hand and pulled away with some fine interplay and clinical defence, keeping the Vipers out for the remainder of the first quarter.

The second quarter followed a similar pattern but the Vipers stayed strong and were unlucky to concede three tries on tackle six but a solitary Taylor try was all they could muster in reply. A bullet like 10m pass from Ireland to Harding being too hot to handle gave the Vipers a final opportunity they just failed to execute.

Going into the third quarter the soap seemed to grow in confidence and after the usual Haughton Mills and Allcock rampaging runs led to the ball being shifted through six pairs of hands only to see Bobby Hill denied inches from the line. The next play they got the rewards they deserved as Henry Briscoe stepped his way to the line and the celebrated with an autographed ball for a lucky supporter.

Penny, Rothwell, Ireland, Harding and Briscoe were passing the ball in great style and when Hit Man for the day Harvey Holt charged towards the line it looked once again that they would cross, this wasn't to be the case as the tenacious Wiganers kept him at bay. Holt taking the hit man in a close race after a second impressive week from the sniper like Jaden Penny, Bobby Hill consistant as ever and Henry Briscoe.

The fourth quarter would prove to be the most fruitful with a Tyler Mills special and a last play solo spectacular from George Rothwell adding to the score.
The most pleasing aspects for the coach being the interplay between 5 and sometimes 6 players in one single play all prior to any contact and the team celebrations following a try.

St Cuthberts are a good well drilled team but the Vipers gave their all and can hold their heads high.
