Mighty Battle

Vipers took on the mighty Widnes Moorfield for a tough battle today, despite very muddy conditions both teams demonstrated a mighty battle and some fantastic team spirit. The first set saw some great teamwork from the boys with awesome tackling. Widnes were first on the score board in the first minute however, Vipers responded very quickly with a great team effort resulting in a try for Ryan. This was shortly followed with tries from Kian who scored 2 and Max, finishing the first half with score line of 4-3.

The second set Vipers demonstrated some excellent skills with a much improved defensive line, off loads and great runs. Widnes gave the boys a tough battle with excellent defensive teamwork however, Vipers Captain (Josh) managed to break through scoring 2 tries, shortly followed by a fantastic full length of the pitch run resulting in a much deserved try for Jake. Widnes also demonstrated some excellent skills scoring 2 tries despite excellent defensive work from Max, Spencer and James.

The third set Vipers were taking no prisoners, the defensive teamwork was outstanding as they held Widnes out for 4 sets of 6. Much deserved teamwork for the Vipers with some fantastic tackling demonstrated by Noah, William. Max, Jake and Kian. Vipers were offloading and looking for the space and earned themselves 3 further tries by Max and a further 2 from the try machine Kian, there was no stopping them today. Widnes came back with a fantastic try in the eighth minute, a well earned effort.

The final set of the day saw a fantastic run by Widnes resulting in the first try of the set to William who earned his Man of the Man for Widnes on his debut, well done. This was shortly followed by tries for Max who earned his hat trick with some mighty runs, Kian and Jake, who flew down the pitch stepping past the Widnes defence and flying over the try line to finish the match. Both teams demonstrated excellent teamwork and some great techniques. Well done to all players for a great day and some fantastic rugby. Vipers Man of the Man went to James Mahoney who played an overall outstanding game, Top Tackler went to Jake Rice for his fearless defensive effort and Coaches award to Josh Yorke who was an excellent Captain today. Thank you to all the spectators today for cheering on all players who were outstanding.
