Every player gets in on the act of scoring in sunny conditions

A magnificent mother's day morning was had by all as the fantastic Vipers treated watching spectators to a feast of fabulous free flowing rugby on a sunny day in Latchford.

The scoreline finished 13-10 to the visiting Vipers who are growing in confidence week by week, with every single player eager for the ball, willing to tackle and support their team mates - with the stats showing every single boy managed to cross the white wash for a try to the delight of their mums!

James, fresh from individual awards over the last two games opened the scoring after one minute of play with a strong run to the line. Latchford pegged the Soap back with a try of their own a minute later. The scoring continued with Ryan getting the first of his two tries in the third minute to keep the scorers busy.

Great defence from both teams for the next few sets gave the scorers a rest but a weaving James Mahoney run to the line halted that as he scored his second try of the morning. The scoring wasn't over in the first period as once again Latchford pegged the Vipers back with a try of their own quickly followed by the first of Jake's two tries on the stroke of the break.

This game was one of the first for the newly formed Latchford team and in the spirit of fun and fair play the Crosfields referees allowed the boys to have more possession and chances to enjoy running with the ball. This though gave the likes of Max, Spencer and James some target practice as they love to tackle!

The second period opened with the outstanding number 3 from Latchford stepping his way to the line through a few would be tacklers. He showed all morning his nimble footwork and was a constant threat for the home team. The scoring was toing and froing and next on the act was Josh after a good strong run then Latchford hit straight back with a try by the impressive number 7.

Man of the match William got his side's sixth try with a wonderful run evading tackle after tackle after good work by Spencer. Jake took the teams in at half time with his second try to finish the half 7 - 4 in front and playing some attractive attacking rugby that all the boys were enjoying.

Max enjoyed the third period with some bone crunching tackles that made one or two of the opposition - and the spectators - wince. This defence also gave him the confidence to stride through for two excellent tries as the defence struggled to contain him. The two scores were sandwiched either side of a second Latchford try for the number 10 and a wonderful run and score from his own half by coaches award winner Thomas!

Latchford came out of the fourth quarter with lots of credit outscoring their more confident visitors 5 tries to 3. The number 3 completing his hat trick with the number 8 also crossing for his second and third tries of the morning. Number 1 also scored. Ryan got his second try after yet another barnstorming run and Noah also got in on the act with a try following a strong run. Spencer who made some crunching tackles was the final player to trouble the scorers with yet another lovely try that was a joy to watch.

Man of the match was William Murray who was excellent all day with the coaches award going to Thomas Wright. James Mahoney was awarded the top tackler today but the whole team can be proud of a strong performance with every player getting on the scoresheet to give all their mum's a lovely Mother's Day Present
