Vipers and Vipers 2 coaches shine with Pride

Two outstanding games of rugby were on display today beginning with Vipers 2 who took on Oldham St Anne's in what was a very close, tough game of rugby.

Both teams went try for try with some great defensive work. Vipers 2, led by Captain Charlie Hughes Lowe, battled hard managing to keep the strong Oldham side out for a full set of 6, just pipping Oldham at the finish line resulting in a 56-52 win for Vipers 2. Try scorers: William, Tommy, Noah, Josh Charlie and Jamie. Man of the Match was awarded to Noah Dutton for a top performance and Top tackler: Jamie Steel for his outstanding defensive effort. The team have demonstrated just how strong they are both defensively and with their attacking line. Many turned out to watch the game and commented on how much progress the boys have made, all boys enjoyed their match time and have a great ethos and show brilliant teamwork, the positive attitude and commitment has certainly paid off as the team has celebrated great success this season.

The second match of the day saw Crosfield Vipers take on Leigh East away, this was always going to be a tough game as the boys took on a very well drilled team. First on the scoreboard was Leigh East (LE) however, their lead was short lived as Kian Fahey equalised within the first 2 minutes. The first half the boys conceded a further 3 tries, with Spencer Lowe going over the line to pull one back for Crosfields. After a quick drink, Vipers took the game by storm with tries scored by James, Finlay and Ryan with the team displaying outstanding defensive effort, preventing LE from reaching the try line. This continued into the third quarter with 2 further tries scored by Kian Fahey and Jake Grice and 1 from the opposition totalling the score at 6 tries to 7 with Vipers just taking the lead.

The final quarter was breathtaking and the spectators were on the edge of their seats as both teams battled hard showing sheer grit and determination, the team who wanted it the most were to come out on top. Vipers held LE out for 3 full sets with a try from Finlay Hill, the winning tackle was displayed by Man of the Match Spencer Lowe as he made an outstanding tackle to hold LE out for their final set. Final result: Leigh East 6 Crosfield Vipers 8. Outstanding Performance by all boys today, top tackler awarded to Jake Grice for his brilliant defence.
Vipers have all worked hard on their defence, trained hard and shown grit and determination, a very proud day for their coaches as all of their hard work is paying off as highlighted in their performance this season.
