All 5 Crosfields sides win Cup Semi-Finals on Super Sunday
5 of our youth teams played in cup semi-finals yesterday, and all were victorious!
Sunday 12th July was a brilliant sporting day for the Club with 5 of our youth teams earning their place in cup finals, with our under 12s still to fight for their place next week.
The UNDER 18s game was a nervy affair, with the game closely contested all the way through. Soap was close to seeing out the win with 3 minutes to go when a very dubious decision was made, with the Leigh attacker clearly in touch, allowing them to tie the game up in the final minute. 2 Periods of 5-minute goal point ensued with the deadlock remaining unbroken, and a good-sized crowd had bitten through all of their fingernails. The game went to a final period of golden point, with play continuing this time until someone scored. Leigh kicked off, and Soap worked the ball upfield well. About 40 meters out from the Leigh line, Lewis Spencer jumped from Dummy half and with deft footwork beat 3 defenders before racing off into the corner to win the game to thunderous applause from around the ground. After 2 hours and 13 minutes in the sweltering heat, the game was finally won. Massive credit to both sets of players for playing at that level in those conditions.

Following their National Cup quarter-final disappointment, Crosfields UNDER 16S produced an emphatic response with a 42-6 victory over a valiant Wigan St Cuthberts side. After a few nervy opening exchanges, the Soap lads soon found their rhythm, with both backs and forwards combining brilliantly to score some excellent tries. Holding a commanding 30-6 lead at half-time, the result was rarely in doubt, although credit must go to St Cuthberts, who made the second half far more competitive than the first. After a few tough years, this talented group of boys now have the opportunity to finish their junior journey on a real high as they await the winners of next week's semi-final between Halton and Westhoughton

UNDER 14S COBRAS booked their place in the Lancashire Cup Final with a dominant 56-0 semi-final victory over Cadishead Rhinos, avenging their narrow semi-final defeat to the same opponents two years ago. After a competitive opening 10 minutes, the Cobras took control through a try from Ben before further scores from Breeze (2), Zac and Aidan gave them a commanding 28-0 half-time lead. The second half saw the Cobras continue their disciplined and relentless performance, adding further tries from Rocco, Oscar, Tyler, Joe and Charles, while Breeze maintained a perfect kicking display with eight conversions. With the score reaching 56-0 and Cadishead unable to mount a comeback, both teams agreed to end the match 10 minutes early. Congratulations to Cadishead Rhinos for their efforts, and the Cobras now look ahead to the Lancashire Cup Final in impressive form.

The UNDER 14S VIPERS were in a hard-earned semi‑final.
We went into the game expecting the win to fall into our laps, assuming momentum and reputation would carry us through. The early exchanges were scrappy but promising. We moved the ball well enough, found shape, and built pressure without ever fully stamping our authority. The scoreboard was in our favour, and the lads looked comfortable.
Too comfortable. We allowed the Eagles to get a foothold in the game, narrowing the gap and forcing us to confront the reality that nothing in this sport is gifted. That was the turning point. With the game tightening and the clock running down, the boys finally clicked into the level required. The carries became harder, the tackles cleaner, the defensive sets more connected. We rediscovered our grit, and once we did, the difference was immediate. A huge carry over the line sealed the game and secured the 18–10 win.
This wasn’t our prettiest performance, but we got the job done. Now rightly through to the final, we will re-focus and drive forward.

UNDER 13s VIPERS A hat-trick by Laney helped secure the points required to take the 13s Vipers to their first cup final. Vipers started from the kick-off, exploiting numbers down the right edge with fast hands. Ben set Mathew free with a quality offload, and Mathew then made a deft offload to Laney in support, who broke away to score. The second came after a stoppage, a ptb on the 10-meter and a dummy and go, followed by a dive and stretch to score. The 3rd was from a 20-yard tap where Soap were first to react, Laney tapped and sprinted away full length to touch down. Whilst Laney got the tries, this was so much more a team performance with the soap repeatedly turning pilks away from their try line in one of their most robust defensive performances to date. Pilks pegged us back each time, and the game came down to goal kicks with Leighton slotting all 3 for the Vipers whilst Pilks missed 2 of theirs.
