In an end to end nail biting encounter Crosfields U13's won 26 - 28 to be crowned champions!!

Greg Pickett's U13's team met Salford Roosters in the NWC's Cup Final this morning. After going 12 - 0 down, early in the first half the young soap dug deep to bring the score back to 12 - 10 with two tries from Alfie Mather who collected the loose ball from a kick and crossed the white wash. The second try came from Billy Kohe-Love who threw an outrageous dummy fooling the defenders to get over the line. Conversion by Harrison Anders. Just before half time Salford went over again when the acting half back scooted over to make it 16 - 10 at the break.

Straight from the kick off in the second half, an error gave Salford a scrum 5 metres from their line. The MOM Salford's No.4 took the ball from the back of the scrum and scored wide out. A fantastic conversion took the score to 22 - 10. Young Soap did not let their heads go down, a great little short kick off was collected by Josh Owens who beat all the defenders to line bringing the score to 22 - 16 when Harrison Anders slotted over the conversion.

From the restart the ball was well worked through hands and found centre Keelan Clarke, who showed his fantastic step, scything through the defence and racing to the posts, converted again by Harrison Anders levelling the score to 22 - 22. The score remained level for a good 10 minutes, until less than 5 to go, the referee gave a very debatable knock on against the Crosfields player, Salford capitalised on the decision and again straight from the scrum they crossed the line to take the lead again, conversion missed 26 - 22.

Young Soap did not give up and a good defensive set and a great kick return by Soap's fullback Matt Perry gave them great field position. A scampering run from acting half back and a fantastic pass from Keelan Clarke to fellow centre James Leadbetter who raced 65 meters outpacing all the defenders to get in under the sticks. The most nerve racking moment of the game and what was ultimately the winning moment was when Harrison Anders added the extras to win the game 26 - 28. Amazing effort by all involved.

Coach Pickett said "I am extremely proud of every single one of the lads, they have stuck together and worked hard for each other, the hard work has paid off!"

Well done Boys!!
