One half of the Soap's youngest age group travelled to Chorley Panthers to start off the 2016 season and it's fair to say the boys were a little excited. This morning gave us an opportunity to see how we have improved in the off season and we saw a great attacking display from the young Crosfields side, as we did from Chorley.
Due to a very large puddle affecting Chorleys pitches we had to play on a very small area that effected any chance to defend as you were 2 tackles off your try line every time however both sides made the best of what we had and the kids enjoyed their morning however they did struggle with the cold.
Crosfields started the game off and Sam Perry went on a bulldozing run bursting straight through the Chorley defence to score within 10 seconds kick off. The game then went try for try for most of the game, Crosfields ended up a try up purely by the timing of the 10 minute quarters.
In the last few minutes of the game, Crosfields managed to defend their line with Spencer Buller putting in the standout tackle of the game to ensure that Crosfields took the spoils however Chorley certainly matched us toe to toe and were good value for their 14 try's.
We are looking forward to being able to get outside in training and work on defence, when we are able to put both halves of the game together this group of young Soap Men will begin to fly.
