As the bells of Newchurch peeled, the clouds parted and the sun shone down, the Eagles touchline manager prowled the rope like a swooping bird of prey. But the story unfolding before him was not going to be one where easy prey was lay on the field, in fact from the first tough set it was clear the cobras were in the mood for a fight. It's clear that we have found another speedster on the wing in L-Bomb, he was on the end of some excellent passing and away he shot for another scorcher. Where did he come from........what a find. Sam followed it up with another after some good work to set him away to the corner. Nat finished the scoring with an astounding bit of work in the middle of the park, two broken tackles then BOOM off down the field.
Regan opened his account by taking a ball off his shoelaces to race in, and then after a set in D, Flying Finn ran from half way on the first drive.
The warmth must've got to the Eagles, as they began to soar, right up round the cobras head guards......a series of tough tackles didn't put the boys off but they took a few bell ringers. Spence scored a lovely try in Q3, with a few steps then blast to the line, Josh drove over next with an eagle on his shoulder, literally like long John silver. He then followed it up for his HT after Robbie ran the full width of the pitch before popping up a ball. Reg finished us off with an awesome John Woods Esq dummy ( he was another lobby gobbler) before Isaac had one disallowed for a dubious bobble.
Shout out to all the boys, especially Joe G who was awesome in D again, must be the new head guard, Charlie got stuck in and Ali who seems to be shouting orders out all over the pitch. Today we had 7 different scorers and so many sets where passing moves had multiple offloads or A-Balls with no knockouts it feels like the boys are clicking into new gears.
