What can we say, some mouth open decisions, some dubious calls, and a match that went all the way, just like GGG we may be sat nursing some questions but today it was clear the boys tried right until the end and the levels of effort were sterling.
Some wonderful scores in the first quarter, each taking some excellent footwork and pace to finish came from Finn, Charlie and Robbie. Especially Charlie who thought he was being caught from 15 out, keep on going, lad!
That was followed by two full sets where SJ dominated and Soap couldn't find the line. But as ever the boy's heads didn't go down, and still kept battling back at 6-3 down. The final qtr went our way, but not without a tussle. Josh bagged one and Reg burnt down the wing to score. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough in end but that's sport, and even though there were a few tears they will only make the future sweeter.
If we call it 2 quarters each then I think it would be more accurate about today. And at times it was getting a little bit naughty on the pitch, which on reflection probably needed to be brought down a few levels by the ref and coaches. The last thing we want is the school headmistress asking why one of them has a broken nose in year 4 assembly.
I don't want to comment on the ref, and I know what I've said in the past about Wigan rules but please bear in mind that every time one of us shouts from the side, it reinforces with the boys it's ok to criticise the referee. That's football, not rugby so let's all chill out folks. You can call the ref when Warrington play!!!
Anyway that's all from me, and in the words of the ancient god Zoroaster, Lord of the first monotheistic religion that some say Judaism, Christianity and Islam are founded on
