A fantastic MOM performance from Jack Williams and a 14 point haul from 18-year-old Dylan Miller saw the Soap romp into the Warrington Cup Final

The Crosfields alliance side has earned the right to try and retain the Warrington Cup after a convincing performance against a game Woolston side saw them through to the Warrington Cup Final, it will be a soap take over as the clubs 1st team also take on Woolston in the first team Final. The finals are to be played as a doubleheader at Warrington Wolves Halliwell Jones Stadium on the evening of Thursday 22nd August 2019. Kick-off times to be confirmed.

The game saw the long-retired Phil Brazendale take to the field in the standoff position. The self-imposed retirement lasted a whole 6 weeks.

The game started as an edgy affair with both sides making plenty of mistakes with the ball with both seemingly panicking when in good attacking territory. A number of interchanges were made due to minor injuries before Alex Clutterbuck broke the deadlock for Crosfields on 32 minutes.

A Woolston player knocked on and the ball was quickly hacked forward before Woolstons loose forward Scott Whitelly tackled a chaser off the ball and was sent to the sin bin for a professional foul. From the resulting penalty and kick to touch the soap took 2 very good drives forward for the ball to find Clutterbuck who stepped and weaved his way through the Woolston defence to go over. Ryan Connelly kicked the conversion 0 v 6.

Only a few minutes later the lead was doubled after a great spot from Jack Willow who jumped blind and hit young Jamie Harrison who busts through out wide to score. With Connelly off injured (Knee), Jack Williams took on the conversion and slotted it over like a pro. 0 v 12 and that's how it stayed to the half time break, Crosfields with a slender lead.

Soap knew that Woolston would come out all guns blazing at the start of the second half and would have to match it, within minutes of the restart a great break from Alex Clutterbuck from halfway is well supported by Jack Williams. Clutterbuck draws the full-back perfectly and passes to Williams for him to race away under the sticks and score. Dylan Miller slots the 2 points over 0 v 18.

Liam James caused a little mayhem up the middle and it was his strong carry, bump and offload that created the next score. The offload went through hands to Dylan Miller who raced away down the centre channel, smashed through the cover tackle to score. 0 V 22

Soap were starting to find their flow on 53 minutes as the far bigger Woolston Pack started to tire, simple ball through hands saw Ben Kenwright bust and score out wide 0 V 26. 5 minutes later and a delicate chip over the top 30 out from Louis Walsh dropped perfectly into the hands of Ben Kenwright who passed to Dylan Miller to score his second try of the game which was converted by Jack Williams 0 v 32

Woolston started to work upfield and a grubber kick on the last was booted back toward Woolston who started a repeat set in the soap 20 for only the second time in the game, Soaps defence was Stoic, however, an offside call on the 4th tackle saw soap tire in their 3rd back to back defensive set and Adam Thomson burrowed his way over for Woolston. Ex Crosfields player Craig Lawton slotted the conversion to make it 6 v 32.

With the game in the closing stages, Josh Whitman bust the Woolston line to score, Miller, kicked the conversion to bring the game to a close and the boys march into their 2nd consecutive Warrington Cup Final.

Jack Williams edged the Man of the Match award with a very composed display leading his forward pack around the park and some brilliant support play.
